CONTEST ALERT by Sentena
I wanted to share an offer in case anyone wants to take me up on it. If you send a pic with all the previous Doo records - bonus points for a fun/ funny pic - I’ll send you a new Patcool record. So you need to have 100% of the previous Doo records in one pic, and I’ll mail you a free Patcool (free shipping too) to the first 5 people. talktodoo@gmail.com Thanks!
A little backstory on the record:
Excalibur is my friend Cal, someone I met through my bro in 2014. He was our early guide to dance music and already had all the gear, which he made available to us in an extremely generous way. He had a tonne of records and was making lots of music and not recording it, which I thought was cool. We’ve done parties with Cal since 2014. He’s one of the best djs and we’ve shared a variety of studios with him for years. Plus I have his old cat. Patcool is an older song, it really stuck around. I still remember making it, which is pretty rare. DJ Frog and Anabasine would play the files, helping keep the song alive in our minds, and it always sounded sick. Btw all the Doo music comes from our shared studio, this is something people who know us personally would know but I wanted to mention anyways.

SnP 500 back n forth - Listen + tracklist
Patcool was recorded alongside DOO411 in 2017 at our first studio in pre-A.I. mile ex. The original self-review accompanying the email with the track ("i think it's engaging enough to fuk wit") proved to be true over the years, and we have kept the track frozen and perfectly preserved so that it didn't get old.
Audio from the party:
We're celebrating launching a new record label (it's called "Pin") with PLO Man this Sunday in Montreal from 2-10 pm at 325 rue St. Ferdinand ($15 tix here). Rain or shine, we will be taking turns running the bar, grilling, selling shirts, and will have records from the new Pin label + a brand new Doo 12" for sale there.
We will also be on the road on Friday in Toronto.

funding drive special with excalibur - Listen + tracklist
CKUT's annual Funding Drive is here... a time for listeners in Montreal and beyond to come together and support the station's mission of independent, grass roots people-powered community radio. It's real life on the radio 24/7 and there's very few places like it in the world. This year's Funding Drive show was red hot and we raised over $400 live on the air and we're now up to $555. Until April 7, anyone who donates $20 or more and dedicates it to You Need A Heart To Live 2 will be entered into a draw to win a brand shiny new Doo test pressing. Get your hands on some unreleased Doo and support an amazing community project at the same time. ckut.ca/donate

sounds of the studio with excalibur and sentena - Listen + tracklist
This one is a special radio show, as always. With DJ Spence in Berlin, Excalibur and myself (as Patcool) took YNAHTL listeners inside the studio for an unplanned real-time jam session. I've always wanted to do a show like this. Does it all sound great? Maybe, but I think for anyone making music themselves or interested in the tunes coming from the studio, hearing unedited long form jams (with a little mic'd up hosting throughout) is a cool and unusual offer. Check it! - Sentena

This folder features 1000 samples and is brought to you by Sentena of SnP 500. It’s meant as a compliment to the first block of 999 samples already shared, which you can find here. Like before, this audio comes largely from Freesound, as well as digital song files, YouTube and the studio, Here’s to hoping you can put them to good use, as there’s lots more sounds to share soon.
Before going to the studio I like to always have new sounds to work with. I feel like using even a little bit of sampling breaks you through any sort of creative blocks you might have trying to start creating a song, and sometimes after I’m rolling I’ll take the samples out. I think sampling can contribute to the music sounding more unique, which is counterintuitive. I generally will add effects to a sound before exporting the sample, then again while jamming, and during the mix down process. I encourage you to use lots of effects. Maybe you’ll recognize some sounds from our songs? Or future songs. I’m not sure what’s in this pack. I don’t look back too much on samples I’ve already tried before.
